Britons support King's decision not to live in Buckingham Palace

Following news that King Charles and Queen Camilla will remain at Clarence House after Buckingham Palace’s £369m refurbishment, in order to allow the Palace to be more open to the public, today’s poll finds that most Britons support the move.

Two thirds (66%) of the public give the King's plan their backing, including 28% who are strongly supportive.

By contrast, only 10% oppose the move.

With Andy Burnham set to lay out plans for devolving greater powers to regional mayors in a speech on Monday, Britons are more likely to think giving mayors more powers would improve how areas are run than worsen them.

Overall, 35% of Britons say devolving more powers from Westminster to regional mayors would make those areas better run, while 13% think it would things worse, and 24% say it would make no difference.

Labour, Lib Dem and Green voters are the most positive, with around half (48-51%) saying greater devolution would make areas better run.

Conservative and Reform UK voters are more sceptical, with only around a quarter (24-25%) saying it would improve things.

It’s Britain’s shortest way of saying thanks, but how often do people use the word 'ta'?

A quarter of Britons say they do so frequently, including 7% who use it very often and 18% fairly often.

By comparison, 35% say they do not use the term frequently, while 37% say they never use it.

Ta is more common in Wales and the North, where 37% and 34% respectively say they use the word frequently, and lowest in London, where only 14% say so.
